With the use of augmented reality gaining prominence and viability on the web, we pitched an idea to MinterEllison to extend their conventional business cards with an AR twist. On the back of the partner's business cards, was an AR marker that activated a 3D infographic of that partner. Interacting with the AR infographic prompted a lightbox to appear, with convenient call-to-actions to contact, email, or add the partner to their Contacts via a downloadable e-card.
The experience is housed on a sub-domain of MinterEllison: ar.minterellison.com.
Whilst the business cards were intended to be used for a single partner at a time, multiple markers could be activated simultaneously. Performance was surprisingly good on modern and sub-modern smartphones, with a consistent frame rate and tracking almost on par with a native app experience.
Beside the digital experience, we also commissioned the design and printing of the new business cards with the AR marker addition.
